I'm just going to say... I'm Caucasian and my mother does the same thing when she takes pictures, and STILL cuts the tops of people's heads off. It's not fair to stick this on the "Japanese"/Chinese.
I think if the Japanese take pictures this way there must be something to it. The Japanese have always been in the forefront of technology and I'm sure there is a benefit to this method of shooting. I'm going to seriously consider striking a ridiculously overexaggerated, or pretzel-shaped pose before taking all my pictures.

those people are chinese. some of the pictures are from tiananmen square and the forbidden palace.
